It's when actual combat comes into play that things begin to get really interesting, however. Gameplay is divided between town, dungeon, and overworld segments and is broken up by the usual degree of random encounters. In terms of overall play-style, Legaia will be largely familiar to fans of the genre. A majority of the game's cinematics are also comprised solely of polygons, though some CG clips are used when more detail is called for. Legaia's world is comprised entirely of polygons right down to the characters themselves ¿ something we're seeing more and more as PlayStation enters its fourth year on the market. These three would-be heroes travel the land of Legaia aided by a variety of helper creatures that will not only provide tips along the way, but protect, heal, and instill new abilities (such as flight) on them as well. He is joined by the orphaned Noa, a young girl raised by wolves, and the older Gala, a skilled warrior who learned his skills from ancient monks. The game's star is Vahn, a young boy who, while a bit wet behind the ears, is an apt adventurer. Taking place in a land consumed by a mysterious mist that has the power to transform normal folk into hideous, blood-thirsty monsters, Legaia stars a trio of young adventurers whose quest is to not only find the source of the mist, but stop who- or whatever is behind it as well.
